Mission Barns is a food company based in San Francisco. Founded in 2018, our mission is to cultivate meat for a more sustainable food system.
Cultivated meat makes it possible to enjoy real meat without the animal for the first time. It’s the meat we all know and love, crafted in a cultivator instead of raising a live animal. Just one pig, living freely, has the potential to feed millions.
All of Mission Barns’ current products contain real pork, made without harming a single animal. A small sample from a pig is fed plant-based nutrients in a cultivator, and combined with plant protein so you can enjoy Mission Barns Bacon, Sausage, Meatballs, and more.
1. Food Security: As the world’s population grows, food production in developing countries is expected to double*. With cultivated meat, just one animal—living freely—has the potential to feed millions.
2. Sustainability: Animal agriculture generates more greenhouse gas emissions than all transportation combined and is a major driver of deforestation and waterway pollution**. Cultivated meat is much kinder to nature—using less resources to preserve our planet.
3. Animal Welfare: Throughout history, the only way to eat meat has been to take the life of an animal. Now for the first time, we can cultivate meat without harm.
4. Health: Mission Barns products are cultivated without antibiotics, which minimizes the risk of developing antibiotic-resistant microbes and animal-borne diseases.

Deliciousness is about flavor and juiciness, which is why we focus on cultivating fat. As every cook knows, fat is flavor. Our bacon, sausage, and meatballs add cultivated pork fat to healthful plant protein for a succulent, sustainable bite.

Mission Barns products are made in our food production facilities in California, similarly to how many of the foods we enjoy, such as bread or cereal, are made. It’s the meat we all know and love, crafted in a cultivator instead of raising a live animal.
We have completed comprehensive safety testing on all our products, and are awaiting regulatory approval.
